“Listening to it, you feel like you are inside some cyclopean subterranean grotto… it’s bejewelled walls glistening with an alien lustre (and) sounding like something that shimmers, iridescent shapes bend conventional pulse-based time and impose their own paradoxical temporality, where constant movement teems within a vast stasis. Merging in and out of Fullman’s overtones, Buzzarté’s trombone – sometimes serene and stately, sometimes wolf-howl mournful – adds abstract colours to the immense, humming backdrop that the LSI generates. Her somber poise is the perfect complement to Fullman’s playing.” -The Wire (May 2008)  Wire rerview pdf

  • "…splendidly recorded… Thanks to the harmonic configurations of the instrument as much as Fullman's chosen pitches, (the title track) is a fantastically rich piece. "Staggered Stasis" is as dramatic and colourful as a Mahler symphony." - Dan Warburton, Paris Transatlantic, link to complete review

Transmission Particle 1 9:00, collaboration:
Ellen Fullman, Long String Instrument and Eliza Slavet, oboe

other contributors: Horacio Vaggione, Fast Forward, Takehisa Kosugi, Mario Verandi and Olga Neuwirth

"The richness of the sounds (Fullman's instrument) produces allows notes and chords to roll into each other almost imperceptibly, while Slavet's skillfully controlled multiphonics bob in and out of the texture. The music is placid, but it floats forwards, sometimes recalling an ethereal soundworld of Renaissance viols and coronets." -Tom Perchard, The Wire, 2002
